Janessa A. Morgan hails from St. Louis, MO, and New Orleans, Louisiana, where she honed her craft as a professionally trained opera singer. Seeking solace from life's challenges, she spontaneously auditioned for the Black Repertory Company, securing the lead role of Sarah in Ragtime. Janessa later showcased her talents as a lead in the Le Freak C'est Chic burlesque show and a tribute concert to the iconic Whitney Houston, a perpetual inspiration in her vocal journey.
Following her success, Janessa became the Leading Lady in The Soul of Motown and America’s Hit Parade, delivering over 400 live performances annually. Encouraged by a talent agent after witnessing her dynamic stage presence, she made the pivotal decision to move to Los Angeles, where acting quickly captured her heart. Despite the demands of single motherhood, Janessa embraced the challenges with determination.
Her acting prowess shines through in notable roles on Scandal, Alexa & Katie, and American Grit. As the lead actress in the feature film, Little Reminders, and the television drama series, Saints & Aints, where she also stepped into the director's chair, Janessa's multifaceted talents come to the forefront. Notably, she holds credits as a producer, makeup artist, set decorator, and special effects artist on the 2024 NAACP Image Award Nominated motion picture, A New Life.
Beyond her on-screen achievements, Janessa wears various hats as a publicist, film writer, and author.
